Today, Alyssa shares her two favorite recipes for homemade, non-toxic cleaners. They're quick, easy, refreshing and they really WORK. Plus, you'll be leaving behind all of those chemicals you don't want (or need) in and around your home. Enjoy!
Non-Toxic All-Purpose Cleaner
Alyssa says, "I use this on nearly all surfaces, glass, and mirrors. For really nice wood surfaces (like antiques or my piano), I do use an all-natural wood cleanser."
Ingredients:
- 1 c white vinegar
- 1 c rubbing alcohol
- 1 c water (well water or distilled water is suggested)
- 2-3 drops of non-toxic or plant-based dish soap
- 3-5 drops each of Peppermint, Lavender, and Orange essential oils
Put it all in a spray bottle and shake before using each time.
Non-Toxic Toilet Bowl Cleaner:
- Sprinkle 1/3 – ½ cup baking soda all around the toilet bowl
- Then sprinkle about 10 drops of favorite antibacterial essential oil (Alyssa uses lemon most of the time, but she likes tea tree oil when it's the "sick season.")
- 1/3 – ½ cup white vinegar poured on top of the soda to make it bubble
Let it sit for 15 minutes or so, then scrub and flush.
