As we see the snowflakes fall and feel the winter weather take hold, I hope that you can take advantage of some family time together. Sometimes it's hard after all the preparation for the holidays to get back into the swing of things for the new year. As we enter into the winter months sometimes it's hard to have something to look forward to. Here are some ideas that might spark an interest and you may consider during your winter evenings at home.
- Spend some time with family member reflecting on and evaluating the holiday events. What do you want to do next year? What do you want to let go of for next year? Make those notes on your calendar.
- Invite some friends in for dinner or an evening of board games
- Visit a shut in or someone in a nursing home- they may have had company during the holidays but very few now
- Invite your spouse out for a date
- Plan a special activity with your children

Get a bunch of fresh flowers, rearrange a room, do something to change the appearance of the room after the decorations all come down or make plans to leave out a few winter decorations.
- Clean a closet or a cupboard
- Paint a room
- Contact someone you didn't have time to visit with over the holidays, or pick up the phone and call.
- Plan your ideal vacation (including dates on your calendar). Involve family members for input, and goal setting (where, when, how expensive and how they can help)
- Update your filing system, your safety deposit box, your will
- Set up a budget and start saving for a purpose.
